Seasonal Maintenance Guide for Arizona Homes

Here’s a simple guide to help you keep your Arizona Exterior home in tip-top shape all year round!

Spring Exterior Maintenance:

As the weather warms up, it’s time to give your home a fresh start:

  1. Inspect Your Roof: Check for any loose or damaged shingles that may have  occurred during winter storms. Repairing them now can prevent leaks when the  summer rains hit.
  2. Clean Your Gutters: Remove any debris like leaves or twigs from your gutters to  ensure proper drainage during Arizona’s brief but intense rain showers.
  3. Check Your Air Conditioning: Before the scorching summer arrives, have your air  conditioning system serviced to ensure it’s running efficiently. Clean or replace air  filters for better indoor air quality.

Summer Exterior Maintenance:

When the temperature soars, focus on keeping your home cool and protected: 1. Seal Cracks and Gaps: Inspect windows and doors for any gaps where cool air  might escape or hot air might seep in. Use weather stripping or caulking to seal  them and improve energy efficiency.

  1. Water Your Plants: Keep your landscaping hydrated during the hot summer  months. Water early in the morning or late in the evening to minimize evaporation. 3. Protect Your Exterior: If your home has a painted exterior or ceramic coating like  Rhino Shield, check for any signs of fading or peeling caused by the harsh sun.  Consider reapplying a protective coating to maintain your home’s curb appeal and  durability.

Fall Exterior Maintenance:

As temperatures start to cool down, it’s time to prepare for the winter ahead: 1. Clean Your Fireplace: If you have a fireplace, get it cleaned and inspected before  you start using it again. This will ensure it’s safe and efficient during the cooler  months.

  1. Prune Your Trees: Trim back any overhanging branches or dead limbs that could  pose a hazard during winter storms or strong winds.
  2. Inspect Your Heating System: Test your heater to make sure it’s working properly  before you need it. Replace air filters if necessary to ensure good indoor air quality  during the winter months.

Winter Exterior Maintenance:

Even in the desert, winter can bring its own challenges:

  1. Protect Your Pipes: To prevent freezing pipes during rare cold snaps, insulate  exposed pipes and allow faucets to drip when temperatures drop below freezing. 2. Check for Leaks: Inspect windows and doors for drafts that could let cold air in.  Use weather stripping or draft stoppers to keep your home cozy and energy efficient.
  2. Maintain Your Landscape: While Arizona winters are mild compared to other parts  of the country, it’s still important to water your plants regularly and protect them  from frost if temperatures dip below freezing.

Whatever the season, Rhino Shield protects your Arizona exterior from the elements.
